Deborah Shaver is the ELLM Project Director and Lead Literacy Coach. Debby, as most know her, graduated from Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio with a BS in Elementary Education. Debby began her career in Richmond County Schools in Augusta, Georgia and accomplished a variety of educational goals during her 25 year tenure there. She received her Masters degree from Augusta State University in Early Childhood Education with course work in administration. Debby taught grades K-5, served as a team leader, assistant principal, worked with the Language Arts Curriculum staff in Richmond County and was the Training/ Dissemination specialist for the State of Georgia with a Federal funded grant program. Debby relocated to Florida and she began a second career with Sarasota County Schools, teaching first and second grade. Debby also supervised beginning teachers, level 2 and 3 interns, served as school lead mentor for all the newly hired teachers in the school. During her 34 year career she was selected Teacher of the Year three times, twice in Richmond County and once in Sarasota County. Debby received a Golden Apple Award from the local new media in Augusta and a Community Leadership Award. After moving with her family to Estero, Debby found the ELLM Project Director position, which seemed to be a perfect fit for all the experiences of her career. All the previous opportunities had prepared her for the exciting challenges of the startup and implementation of the ELLM project in Collier County and her lead coaching position. With 2 successful years behind her, Debby is looking forward to even better results as the teachers and coaches fully understand and implement the ELLM model.
