What is ELLM?

ELLM improves the literacy readiness of at-risk Collier County Pre-Kindergarten children through results-oriented use of the professional coaching model, learning materials, clear standards, and third party assessments

ELLM’s Goals
  • Increase ELLM students’ knowledge of alphabet letter names & sounds
  • Increase literacy skills of students, including English Language Learners
  • Develop teachers’ instructional skills and knowledge in ELLM classrooms

ELLM services are portable and come directly into 70+ classrooms in these organizations:
  • Collier County Public Schools: Heat Start /VPK Classrooms at 17 school sites
  • Collier County Parks and Rec Voluntary Pre-K at Golden Gate Community Center, Immokalee Community Park, and Veterans Memorial Community Park
  • Everglades City VPK
  • Fun Time Early Childhood Academy
  • Guadalupe Center
  • Immokalee Childcare
  • Immokalee Housing and Family Services
  • Redland Migrant Christian Association (RCMA) including Youth Haven
  • YMCA of the Palms and YMCA at Veterans Memorial Elementary
Funding Sources
  • In 2011, The Naples Children and Education Foundation (NCEF) provides more than half of ELLM’s total cost
  • Florida Gulf Coast University (oversight, fiscal management, research & evaluations)
  • Collier County Public Schools (one Literacy Coach, office and storage space & equipment)
  • YMCA (office space)
