ELLM

Early Learning and Literacy Model

3rd program year of early literacy initiative in 59** Pre-K classrooms serving over 900** students

Engaged in sustainability effort through Naples Children and Education Foundation by leading the Professional Development portion of Early Childhood education proposal**
 
  • Wrote continuation grant; established budget; process purchases and approve all expenditures and program aspects; write contracts and MOUs annually
  • Supervise and work on professional development with project staff
  • Chair steering committee
  • Prepare and present all required reports to NCEF and others as requested
  • Pursue sustainability by active participation on NCEF task force**
SEEDS 3rd program year of volunteer mentors working with ELLM students using research based plans and materials

4th year of 6 year project focusing on reading instruction in grades k-3

  • Take lead on writing continuation grants and budgets
  • Hold 4 regional training for reading coaches annually
  • Write contracts for all partners; write invoices for fund disbursements
  • Hold at least 3 four-day Reading Academies for teachers in the region (2 in summer; 1 in fall on Saturdays)

 

ISSUES ‘06/ Solutions‘07

3rd year of annual regional legislative ISSUES event series
 
  • Co-planned and managed event in partnership with Tina Matte (under direction of Representative Davis)
  • Subcommittee meetings and working with Ken Sneeden
Regional Stewardship Alliance 2nd year of regional effort to focus on and respond to regional priorities
 
  • Planned and managed events in partnership with Tina Matte (under direction of Representative Davis) – first event in February and second on May 11-12
  • Worked with University of Florida in developing the Conflict Mapping Process for SW Florida**

FGCU Collegiate High School

Early admission/dual enrollment program for 11th and 12th grades students who seek to major in education, science, math or engineering.
 
  • Created program with Steering Committee input
  • Created and/or assisted in creating all documents and processes
  • Met with all superintendents and select groups in each county on an on-going basis for marketing purposes; manage articulations with districts

Career Days

2-day effort to reach 8th graders (2000+) about career opportunities including pre- and post-curricula and materials

Army Corps of Engineers intern Internship program designed to furnish WFDB interns with “volunteers” to assist Army Corps of Engineers

Chief Academic Officers Council Meetings among the chief academic officers of the Alliance and FGCU COE Dean to address (through discussion, research, information gathering, etc.) common issues and identify possible FGCU strategies to assist districts

Facilitating review of existing and introduction of new articulation agreements between k-12 and post secondary institutions
